Privacy policy
Yearly is built to need as little of your data as possible. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Yearly is provided by Neelz Media FZE (“Yearly”, “we”, “us”), a company incorporated in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. This policy covers the Yearly app for iPhone and Android and the website yearly.day.
The short version
- We use your phone number to sign you in, and your name and birthday so your friends can see when it's your birthday.
- To find friends, the app checks the phone numbers in your contacts against Yearly. Names and other contact details never leave your phone, and numbers that don't belong to someone on Yearly aren't kept.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or use analytics or tracking in the app.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time, and your data is removed.

The app asks for camera and photo access only when you choose to take or pick a photo. We don't collect your location.
2. Who can see your information
- Your friends on Yearly: people on Yearly who have your phone number in their contacts see your name, profile photo and birthday. Turn off “Show my birthday” in Profile to hide your birthday.
- People you chat with see the messages, photos and reactions you send them.
- We never message your contacts, and nobody can see your contact list.
3. Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run Yearly. They process data only on our behalf and under contract:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage. Data is stored on servers in Mumbai, India.
- Twilio and WhatsApp (Meta): to send your sign-in code by WhatsApp.
- Expo, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service: to deliver notifications to your device.
- Vercel: hosting for this website.
When you choose “Wish on WhatsApp”, the app opens WhatsApp with your message ready. What happens in WhatsApp is covered by WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or of Yearly.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, contact matches, messages, photos and notifications straight away. Copies may remain in encrypted backups for a short time before they are overwritten.
5. Your choices and rights
- Edit your name, birthday, photo and email in Profile.
- Hide your birthday, change reminders, or turn off notifications in Profile.
- Stop contact matching by turning off contact access in your phone's settings.
- Delete your account in the app, or follow the steps on our delete your account page.
- Ask for a copy of your data, or for corrections, by emailing info@yearly.day from the address on your account or with your registered phone number.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted so that each person can only read what they're allowed to see. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.
7. International transfers
Your information is stored in India and may be processed in other countries where our providers operate. We rely on our providers' contractual safeguards for these transfers.
8. Children
Yearly isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Changes
We'll update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes, and tell you in the app about important changes.
